Low-income and senior residents of Montana can access free legal assistance through the Montana Legal Services Association or the Legal Services Developer Program. Eligibility for these services is determined by several factors, include income levels, age, and the type of legal program faced.

Montana Legal Services Association (MLSA)

  • Legal Areas: Domestic violence, housing rights, agricultural workers, youth homelessness, tribal law, public benefits, consumer law, and crime victim rights.

  • Free Advice: MLSA provides legal services to low- and moderate-income Montanans experiencing civil (non-criminal) legal problems. Services are not available for criminal cases, traffic violations, or personal injury lawsuits.
