Low-income residents of New Hampshire can access free legal advice in a wide range of legal areas from New Hampshire Legal Assistance and 603 Legal Aid. Residents with disabilities can also apply for free legal services from the Disability Rights Center.

New Hampshire Legal Assistance (NHLA)

  • Legal Areas: Housing, public benefits, domestic violence, youth law, elder law, immigration, and education.

  • Free Advice: NHLA offers free legal assistance in civil (non-criminal) cases to residents of New Hampshire with low income and limited assets. Adults who are 60 years old and older may also apply for free legal services.


603 Legal Aid

  • Legal Areas: Eviction, foreclosure, family law, domestic violence, public benefits, criminal record annulments, tax issues, and civil rights.

  • Free Advice: Free legal services are provided for clients with incomes up to 200% of the federal poverty level. However, free legal advice is not available in criminal cases.


Disability Rights Center – NH

  • Legal Areas: Abuse and neglect, building and program accessibility, education, employment/jobs, housing, healthcare, voting, and other cases that are directly related to a person's disability.

  • Free Advice: Any person with a disability living in New Hampshire can apply for free legal advice from the Center. Cases must meet certain criteria to be accepted, including whether the case fits within the Center's priorities and whether their advocacy would make a positive difference to people with disabilities.
