Nevada Free Legal Advice - Online Chat

Several statewide and regional non-profits offer free legal advice for low-income Nevadans who are otherwise unable to afford an attorney. Receiving free legal services can be done by applying over the phone or online.

Nevada Legal Services (NLS)

  • Hotline: 1-702-386-0404 (Mon-Thur, 8:00am to 4:00pm; Fri, 8:00am to 12:00pm)

  • Legal Areas: Housing and homelessness, consumer law, foreclosure, public benefits, record sealing, name/gender marker changes, special education, employment discrimination, estate planning, criminal law, and family law.

  • Free Advice: NLS offers free legal services in civil (non-criminal) matters to low-income residents of Nevada who are not able to afford an attorney. The income eligibility threshold is set at 125% of the federal poverty level (see table).


Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada (Southern Nevada)

  • Legal Areas: Family law, tenant and housing issues, probate, consumer law, immigration, child support, domestic violence, social security, bankruptcy, and foreclosure.

  • Free Advice: Eligibility for free legal services is determined based on income levels and the number of people in a household (see table). The guidelines are generally based on 65% of 2024 median family incomes in Nevada.


Northern Nevada Legal Aid (Northern Nevada)

  • Hotline: 1-775-329‑2727 (Mon-Fri, 9:00am to 12:30pm, 1:00pm to 5:00pm)

  • Legal Areas: Housing, consumer protection, senior law, immigration, domestic violence, child advocacy, medical/legal partnership, family law, and guardianship.

  • Free Advice: Low-income residents of Washoe and northern Nevada are eligible to apply for assistance with their civil legal issues. Pro se litigants can also access some services in the organization's self-help center.
